The traditional HD-115 model, reborn!

When talking about acoustic guitars, -the more you play it, the better it sounds- is a well-known fact. Even trough the eyes of someone that doesn’t know a lot about guitars,  a vintage guitar with the battle scars to prove its might give a better impression than a sparkling new one.

It's not an exaggeration to say that the feeling how the feeling and sound of a guitar evolves throughout time is one of the great attractions of this hobby, be it new or vintage, or getting to know the weak and strong points of the sound of your guitar and really leaves an impression in the player.

On the other hand, we, the makers of Headway, are now experiencing decades after the brand started, and now, through the maintenance of the guitars we used to make, we are actually realizing this "guitar evolution". Produced since the late 1970s, the HD-115, with a spruce top, and a rosewood side and back guitar remains the most common headway model on the market today. And we can say it does produce a richer sound than it was when it was brand new while maintaining a good condition as an instrument. The fact that they are able to last this long and what’s more, sound even better this many years after they were originally produced makes us really happy, and it will be a source of inspiration for us on future guitar making.

The HD-115 ATB model with are producing this time is being aimed to replicate that “tone evolution” right from the get-go.

Following the path shown by the old HD-115 models, we went with a non-scalloped bracing and changed the position where the bracing intersects (close to the bridge) (Standard X). The sharpness of the sound is just right, and we get a pure sound right from the core of the wood. With these specs, you can experience the ease of playing and the rich sound that would normally only come from years of developing a guitar.

In addition, to reproduce the experience of the HD-115 of those days, we put a lot of attention to the appearance aspect of this model. With everything from the soundhole the label, the serial stamp, the painted pickguard, paint color, texture, and more. On the other hand, the HD-115 has been rebuilt to be the new Headway standard by combining the aspects that made the old models feel good and the latest production methods and components, such as using JESCAR frets.
