The "Extra Slim U Grip" Neck grip is even thinner than previous designs.
Headway's latest HOM model with thorough attention to playability

The image of Headway guitars has been of having a thick and strong sound much like their necks, which while giving the player the possibility of having a really good grasp, it had the demerit of being too thick for some, making those players just dismiss Headway guitars outright.
We have developed the thinnest grip shape to ever come equipped into a Headway guitar. We consider this a great success and an amazing option, especially for players who prefer a finger-picking style or a thin, narrow neck grip to play fast passages effortlessly.
Named "Extra Slim U Grip". The playability has been further improved by working the already released Headway No. 500 series grip "Slim U" to be even thinner.

The first thing to worry about when making the neck grip thinner is the "neck strength", but of course we knew this. For the first time in the Aska team build series, we have a model that incorporates the "High Strength Neck" that comes as a result of the truss rod + double carbon rod support combination, which has been adopted in recent years by Yasuo Momose and other craftsmen in Headway Custom Shop products.
The thinner the grip, the less mass the neck body has, but the high-strength neck structure increases rigidity and suppresses unnecessary neck bending, and the vibration of the strings is transmitted smoothly to the body top. Not only that, but we feel that the sound of the guitar is actually improved compared to the conventional 500 series acoustic guitar.
